Job Summary

AI Platform Administrator III

The AI Platform Administrator manages, maintains, and supports the cloud-based platforms and services that enable artificial intelligence and generative AI. This role ensures teams have reliable, secure, and governed access to AI platforms and tools. The position works closely with AI engineers, data scientists, software teams, and security partners to operationalize AI workloads, enforce governance standards, and provide day-to-day administration of AI platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud administration, infrastructure automation, scripting, and enterprise platform support.

Responsibilities

Systems Administrator, III

1. Administers and maintains secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments that support enterprise AI platforms and workloads.

2. Develops and manages Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and supporting scripts to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment of cloud resources.

3. Deploys, configures, and supports enterprise AI platforms (e.g., M365 Copilot, Gemini, NotebookLM, ChatGPT Enterprise, SageMaker Unified Studio).

4. Applies and enforces security, compliance, and governance standards for AI platforms.

5. Supports the development, deployment, and operationalization of AI/ML pipelines and use cases in the cloud by partnering with AI engineers, data scientists, and application teams.

6. Monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes AI platforms to ensure availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

7. Supports team access to AI tools through standardized frameworks, pipelines, and release processes.

8. Writes and maintains scripts to automate administrative tasks, reduce manual work, and improve platform reliability.

9. Reviews platform configurations and procedures, sharing best practices with peers and mentoring junior administrators.

10. Creates and maintains documentation for platform administration, operational standards, and troubleshooting guides.

11. Provides ongoing production support, including user assistance, incident response, and resolution of platform-related issues.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:

Systems Administrator, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

Systems Administrator, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Administrator, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Administrator, IV: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Administrator, V: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Administrator, VI: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.

Systems Administrator, VII: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 14 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 12 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including services supporting AI/ML workloads.
Experience administering enterprise AI platforms such as M365 Copilot, Gemini, NotebookLM, ChatGPT Enterprise, and SageMaker Unified Studio.
Strong skills with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and observability tools.
Knowledge of enterprise security frameworks, governance, and compliance practices.
Scripting experience and proficiency with languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams to enable AI adoption.
