ServiceNow CMDB Administrator -Contract to Hire

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Administrator to own the health, accuracy, and governance of our Configuration Management Database within the ServiceNow platform. This role serves as the primary steward of our Configuration Items (CIs) and their relationships, ensuring the CMDB remains a trusted source of truth that supports Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Management processes.

• Administer and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB, including CI classes, the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), attributes, and relationship structures
• Configure and manage ServiceNow Discovery, including MID Server deployment, discovery schedules, credential management, and pattern/probe/sensor troubleshooting
• Configure and support Service Mapping to build and maintain accurate application service maps and business service dependencies
• Own Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules to control how CI data is deduplicated and merged from multiple data sources
• Monitor and improve CMDB health using the CMDB Health Dashboard, addressing issues such as stale CIs, missing relationships, incomplete data, and duplicate records
• Manage integrations feeding the CMDB (Discovery, cloud connectors, monitoring tools, ITAM data, third-party APIs) via IntegrationHub or custom Import Sets/Transform Maps
• Align CI classification and relationships to the ServiceNow CSDM framework and organizational ITIL practices
• Partner with Change, Incident, and Problem Management teams to ensure CI relationships accurately support impact analysis and blast-radius assessments
• Build and maintain Performance Analytics dashboards and reports to track CMDB data quality KPIs (completeness, correctness, compliance, timeliness)
• Manage access controls, ACLs, and data governance policies for CMDB tables
• Document CMDB architecture, class hierarchies, data dictionaries, and governance/onboarding processes
• Provide guidance and training to ServiceNow users and stakeholders on CI data standards and CMDB best practices
• Support audits and compliance initiatives that rely on accurate CMDB data

• 3+ years administering a CMDB within the ServiceNow platform
• Hands-on, production experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping
• Strong working knowledge of the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
• Experience with the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) and CI reconciliation rules
• Proficiency with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs) for data validation, business rules, and troubleshooting
• Experience building Import Sets, Transform Maps, and/or IntegrationHub Spokes for data ingestion
• Solid understanding of ITIL Configuration Management principles
• Strong attention to detail and a data-quality-first mindset
• Effective cross-functional communication with IT operations, security, and engineering teams

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery or CMDB
• ITIL v4 Foundation certification
• Experience with ServiceNow ITAM (Hardware/Software Asset Management) modules
• Exposure to cloud discovery within ServiceNow
• Experience with Performance Analytics and CMDB Health Dashboards

• Notes on Client:  They have been our client for 10+ years.  This is a contract to hire role and I am working on getting the salary information firmed up but I have already staffed most of the group and they pay just at market salary for a Texas based company.  Excellent retirement and healthcare benefits.
