Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in Sybase ASE and MySQL to support enterprise database environments. The successful candidate will partner with application and infrastructure teams through the full database lifecycle, from design and build through deployment and ongoing operational support. This role will also contribute to the organization's strategic Sybase exit program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor, and support Sybase ASE and MySQL database environments across production, non-production, development, and disaster recovery tiers.
  • Collaborate with clients and application teams on database design, capacity planning, build, and rollout activities.
  • Lead and support the Sybase ASE 16.1 upgrade initiative, including planning, testing, and implementation.
  • Contribute to the enterprise Sybase exit program, supporting migration workstreams and validation activities.
  • Perform production support duties including incident management, root cause analysis, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database patching.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours production support.
  • Utilize Foglight to monitor database health and proactively identify performance degradation.
  • Maintain database security standards, access controls, and compliance configurations.
  • Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation including runbooks, build guides, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications

Technical Skills: Proven hands-on experience as a DBA administering Sybase ASE and MySQL in enterprise environments. Working knowledge of Sybase ASE 16.x architecture, replication, and upgrade procedures. Proficiency with Foglight database monitoring. Solid understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity management. Scripting experience with Python, Perl, and shell scripts.

Professional Skills: Ability to support and engage clients directly in design and delivery activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working in an on-call production support rotation.

Work Environment

This role has a hybrid schedule requirement of a minimum of three days per week onsite.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay rate for this position is between $65.00 and $70.24 per hour. Benefits are available to eligible employees.
