Summary

Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Database Administration: Design, install, configure, upgrade, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve database performance issues, such as slow running queries, inefficient database design, and indexing problems, to ensure optimal database performance.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect the integrity and availability of the database, including disaster recovery planning and testing.
Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access control, auditing, encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR or HIPAA.
Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve database-related issues, such as connectivity problems, data corruption, and system failures, in a timely and efficient manner.
Automation: Develop and maintain scripts, automation tools, and monitoring solutions to streamline database management tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth, analyze resource usage, and forecast capacity requirements to ensure that the infrastructure can support current and future needs.
Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system engineers, and other IT staff to support application development, deployment, and integration with the database platform.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance with organizational standards.
Cloud and Automation: Manage cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure) and implement automation using scripting. Implement and manage SQL Server high availability solutions
Develop and execute migration strategies to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
Oversee data security, compliance, and validation during migration.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications

Experience:
Several years of experience in SQL Server database administration, including experience with performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and security.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL Server administration, T-SQL, database design, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS SQL Database) is a plus.
Tools and Technologies: Experience with database management tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Extended Events), and automation frameworks (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL scripts).
Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Compliance and Security: Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices for securing sensitive data, as well as experience with implementing and maintaining security controls in a database environment.
