Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep AWS expertise to lead the end-to-end setup of a greenfield cloud platform at a client site. This role requires hands-on ownership of building scalable, secure, and production-grade infrastructure from scratch while working closely with client stakeholders.
You will be responsible for establishing a modern AWS-native DevOps ecosystem, enabling rapid delivery, operational excellence, and long-term scalability.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Cloud Architecture (Greenfield Setup)
· Design and implement AWS cloud infrastructure from the ground up
· Define architecture using core AWS services such as:
o Compute: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS
o Storage: S3, EBS
o Networking: VPC, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateway, ALB/NLB
· Establish multi-account strategy using AWS Organizations
· Implement high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
· Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform (preferred) or AWS CloudFormation
· Create reusable modules for scalable deployments
· Implement environment provisioning for Dev, QA, UAT, and Production
CI/CD & Automation
· Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using:
o AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy
o GitHub Actions / Jenkins (if required)
· Automate build, test, and deployment processes
· Integrate security, quality, and compliance checks into pipelines
Containerization & Kubernetes
· Deploy and manage containerized applications using:
o Docker
o Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
· Implement Helm charts and Kubernetes best practices
· Manage cluster scaling, upgrades, and cost optimization
Observability & Reliability Engineering
· Implement monitoring and logging using:
o Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail
o Prometheus, Grafana (if required)
· Define and track SLIs, SLOs, SLAs
· Lead incident management, RCA, and performance tuning
Security & DevSecOps
· Implement secure cloud practices:
o IAM roles, policies, and least privilege access
o Secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager / Parameter Store)
· Enable security scanning and compliance automation
· Ensure adherence to enterprise and regulatory standards
Cost Optimization (FinOps)
· Monitor and optimize AWS spend using:
o AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets
· Recommend right-sizing, reserved instances, and auto-scaling strategies
Client Engagement (Onsite Role)
· Work directly with client stakeholders to:
o Understand business and technical requirements
o Define DevOps and cloud strategy
· Act as a trusted advisor for AWS architecture and DevOps practices
· Collaborate with offshore teams and provide technical leadership
Required Skills & Experience
· 8+ years of experience in DevOps / Cloud Engineering
· Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform
· Proven experience in greenfield project setup on AWS
· Deep expertise in:
o Terraform (preferred) / CloudFormation
o AWS CI/CD tools (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)
o Docker & Kubernetes (EKS)
· Strong understanding of:
o AWS networking (VPC design, security groups, routing)
o High availability and scalable architectures
· Scripting skills: Python / Bash
· Experience with monitoring and logging tools
· Prior experience in client-facing or onsite roles
Good to Have
· AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer Professional)
· Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda)
· Exposure to data platforms (Redshift, Snowflake on AWS, S3 data lakes)
· Knowledge of platform engineering / Internal Developer Platforms (IDP)
· Experience in regulated industries (Healthcare, Finance, etc.)
