What you will be doing:
  • Data Acquisition System Management: Lead the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the iTest data acquisition system for engine testing. Utilize knowledge of engine CAN bus systems for effective data acquisition and diagnostics.
  • Data Integrity and Quality: Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data collected from engine test benches.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop and maintain tools for data analysis and reporting to support engineering and management decisions.
  • Software Development and Maintenance: Write, debug, and optimize VCL scripts and Python programs to enhance data acquisition and processing capabilities.
  • System Integration: Integrate data acquisition systems with other IT infrastructure and ensure seamless data flow across platforms. Understand facility infrastructure and its effect on Test Cell Systems
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues with data acquisition hardware and software, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with engineering teams to understand their data requirements and provide tailored data acquisition solutions.
  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for data acquisition processes and provide training to team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving data acquisition systems and processes, implementing best practices and new technologies.
  • Compliance and Safety: Promote a culture of compliance, adhering to the Rolls-Royce Global Code of Conduct and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Special Projects: Undertake special projects as required.

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering and 5 years of industrial controls engineering experience; or 9 years of industrial controls engineering experience.
  • This position has a traditional work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work schedule, with the eligibility of overtime as business requires.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control Systems and ability to interface to controls, automation, Emissions equipment, or Engine Control Units
  • Understanding and utilization of process controls, i.e., Process Tuning, Thermocouples, Transducers, Meters, Valves, Sensors, etc....
  • Understanding of Engine Control Systems
  • Diesel engine testing experience
  • Ability to program VCL, Python, Uniplot
  • Understanding of Test Automation Protocols, i.e., EtherCAT, AK Protocol, SCPI, CAN, MODBUS, etc....
  • A&D iTest Experience
  • SAP experience
  • Experience with database management
  • Excellent background in controls architecture.
  • Excellent background in device and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Excellent analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in detecting equipment/system failure.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Strong organizational planning and follow-up skills.
  • Strong Ability to interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Work Conditions:

While performing duties of this position, employees are frequently requested to work inside and occasionally required to work outside of the facility. While working outside, employees will occasionally endure hot, cold, and humid temperature conditions. The employees will frequently hear noise. Also, employees will occasionally work with hazardous material within the manufacturing work environment.

While performing physical demands of the work environments, employees will occasionally be requested to sit, climb, and maintain balance, crouch, and squat. Next, employees will frequently be requested to stoop and or kneel. Finally, employees will regularly be requested to sit and walk within the work environments.

Employees will be occasionally requested to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment. The materials will weigh between 10-25 pounds, and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials once per week.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the employee must have the ability to adjust focus.
