About Us

Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree-granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,400 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in Middle Georgia State University's cybersecurity operations. This position acts as the secondary ISO and reports to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This position's primary location is in Macon, Georgia.

Responsibilities

Program Administration & Planning (30%) -
Assists the CISO with the implementation and enforcement of Cybersecurity policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
Assists in the investigation of and response to cybersecurity incidents.
Participates in and advises University committees as needed.
Regularly monitors the safeguard effectiveness.
Assist in development of System Security Plans, Risk Assessments, Plans of Action (Risk Registers) and other system documentation.

Program Services & Operations (45%) -
Serves as a primary or secondary security administrator for one or more security solutions.: Endpoint security, Data loss prevention, Vulnerability scanning and reporting, Centralized logging, Cybersecurity awareness training campaigns, Phish testing, Distribution of updates and other patches to workstations, Privileged access management (PAM), Hardware and software asset inventory, and Email threat response
Conducts risk assessments of third-party service providers.

Network & System Administration (25%) -
Serves as the primary or secondary system administrator for a variety of physical and virtual servers, including security and backup\recovery.
Develops and implements scripts to automate administrative tasks.
Installs, maintains, and operates the wireless network; plans the installation of access points; installs and configures Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), and management software.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years' demonstrated experience in: Windows Server and Hyper-V administration, PowerShell, VBScript or Dos batch file scripting, and Windows OS patch management

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business, or related fields from an accredited institution preferred.

Preferred Experience
Demonstrated experience with Linux OS administration.
Demonstrated experience managing enterprise Wi-Fi networks.
Demonstrated experience in security architecture development.
Demonstrated experience in firewall management.
Demonstrated experience configuring VLANs, routing and sub-netting.
Demonstrated experience in vulnerability scanning and mitigation.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Working knowledge in firewall management.
General knowledge of Vulnerability scanning and remediation.
General knowledge of Wi-Fi concepts.
General knowledge PowerShell, VBScript or Dos batch file scripting.
General knowledge of Linux OS administration.
Thorough knowledge of backup and restore operations.
Thorough knowledge of Windows Server and Hyper-V administration.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
