Title: Senior Precisely Connect CDC Engineer (Db2 z/OS)

Location: 100% Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 3+ Month Contract
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Precisely Connect CDC Engineer to support enterprise data replication initiatives in a large-scale mainframe environment. This role will focus on configuring, administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting Precisely Connect CDC (formerly SQData) solutions that replicate data from IBM Db2 for z/OS to downstream cloud and distributed data platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience with Precisely Connect CDC and working knowledge of Db2 for z/OS. This position will play a critical role in enabling new applications for replication, supporting production environments, and resolving complex data synchronization issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and support Precisely Connect CDC replication solutions for new and existing applications.
• Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot CDC environments across production systems.
• Investigate and resolve replication issues, including:
  • Replication latency
  • Missing or delayed transactions
  • Failed replications
  • Connectivity issues
  • Capture, publisher, or apply failures
  • Data synchronization and consistency issues
• Analyze source and target record discrepancies and determine root cause.
• Coordinate with application teams, database administrators, and platform engineering teams to ensure reliable data movement.
• Manage CDC configurations when source tables are added, modified, reorganized, or retired.
• Review CDC and Db2 logs to identify and resolve replication problems.
• Support CDC recovery and restart activities.
• Help onboard additional applications to the replication platform as adoption expands across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Precisely Connect CDC (formerly SQData).
• Experience configuring and supporting Db2 for z/OS as a CDC source environment.
• Strong understanding of CDC architecture and components, including:
  • Change capture
  • Publisher services
  • Transaction storage
  • Replication/distribution
  • Apply processing
  • Source and target configuration
• Experience administering and supporting CDC solutions in enterprise production environments.
• Strong understanding of Db2 for z/OS logging and transaction processing.
• Ability to read Db2 logs and execute Db2 commands to support replication troubleshooting.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex data replication issues.
• Strong knowledge of commit, rollback, restart, and recovery concepts.
• Ability to distinguish between:
  • Source database issues
  • CDC capture issues
  • Transport/publisher issues
  • Target/apply processing issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM Db2 for z/OS in large enterprise environments.
• Additional experience with IBM replication technologies such as IBM IDR, Q Replication, or SQL Replication.
• Experience supporting cloud data integration and modernization initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end replication workflows.

This role is heavily focused on Precisely Connect CDC administration and support, with Db2 for z/OS knowledge serving as a critical foundation for troubleshooting, log analysis, table access, replication enablement, and issue resolution. The successful candidate will help expand CDC adoption across multiple applications while serving as a technical expert for ongoing production support and operational excellence.
