Principal Systems Analyst (Mainframe & Distributed)
Role Summary
Principal Systems Analyst within Brokerage systems acting as a key bridge between Mainframe logic and Distributed architectures. This role is responsible for analyzing complex backend logic—primarily within COBOL and Mainframe systems—to define requirements, create technical stories, and determine event behaviors for modernizing Brokerage systems, specifically within Tax, Corporate Actions, Settlement, and Trade domains. Ideal candidate would have experience working with modernizing of mainframe brokerage platforms to microservices based distributed platform
Core Responsibilities
Logic Analysis: Navigate and analyze existing COBOL and Mainframe code to determine system behavior and translate legacy logic into actionable user stories for modern platforms.
Data & Testing: Create test data and perform deep-dive log analysis across systems to validate event triggers and data flow.
Agile Delivery: Partner closely with developers to create detailed technical stories in Jira, ensuring a clear understanding of Mainframe-to-Distributed integrations.
Database Management: Utilize strong SQL skills to work within DB2 and Oracle environments for data mapping and validation.
Cross-Platform Integration: Apply knowledge of REST APIs and distributed application architecture to ensure seamless communication between legacy and modern systems.
Quality Standards: Drive TDD (Test Driven Development) practices to ensure accuracy in complex financial logic transitions.
Ability to analyze system logs for troubleshooting and debugging

Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of Brokerage operations, including Tax, Corporate Actions, Settlement, and Trade.
Mainframe Mastery: Proficiency in navigating Mainframe environments and interpreting COBOL logic.
Database Systems: Advanced knowledge of DB2 (Mainframe) and Oracle (Distributed) including complex SQL querying.
Technical Analysis: Ability to analyze system logs and existing codebases to map end-to-end event behavior.
Modern Architecture: Working knowledge of Distributed systems, REST APIs, and how web applications interact with backend services.
Tools & Process: Expert in Jira for story creation and experienced in TDD environments.
