Summary

Senior Microsoft Azure & Power Platform Architect/Developer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Azure & Power Platform Architect/Developer to design, build, and establish a new enterprise application using Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, and Azure event-driven services.

The ideal candidate will combine solution architecture and hands-on development experience. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end technical solution, including Power Apps, Dataverse data architecture, Azure integration, APIs, security, event-driven processing, ALM/DevOps, deployment, and troubleshooting.

This is not a Power Apps configuration-only position. The candidate must have strong software development, integration, Azure, Dataverse, and architecture experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Microsoft application development, cloud engineering, or solution architecture.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Microsoft Power Platform experience.
  • Microsoft PL-400: Power Platform Developer Associate certification β€” current or previously obtained.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Dataverse.
  • Strong experience designing and developing enterprise Power Apps solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.
  • Experience integrating Power Platform/Dataverse with Azure and external enterprise systems.
  • Strong knowledge of application security, identity, APIs, data architecture, ALM, and DevOps.

Key Technical Skills

Microsoft Power Platform

  • Power Apps – Model-Driven and Canvas Apps
  • Microsoft Dataverse
  • Dataverse data modeling, relationships, keys, and business rules
  • Dataverse security roles, teams, business units, and ownership models
  • Power Automate
  • Dataverse Web API
  • Dataverse plug-ins
  • Custom APIs and Custom Connectors
  • Solutions and solution layering
  • Environment variables and connection references
  • Power Platform ALM and environment management

Azure

Hands-on architecture/development experience with several of the following:

  • Azure Functions
  • Azure Service Bus
  • Azure Event Grid
  • Azure Logic Apps
  • Azure API Management
  • Azure Key Vault
  • Azure SQL
  • Azure Storage
  • Application Insights / Azure Monitor
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Managed Identities
  • Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines

The candidate must understand how Azure services integrate with Power Platform and Dataverse, not simply have general Azure infrastructure experience.

Event-Driven Architecture

Demonstrated experience designing systems where application or data events trigger downstream processing using loosely coupled components.

Experience with:

  • Publish/Subscribe architecture
  • Queues and Topics
  • Event producers and consumers
  • Asynchronous processing
  • Dataverse event handling
  • Webhooks
  • Azure Functions
  • Service Bus queues/topics
  • Event Grid
  • Retry and exception handling
  • Dead-letter queues
  • Idempotent processing
  • Transaction and data consistency
  • Application telemetry and monitoring

Architecture & Development Responsibilities

  • Design the end-to-end architecture for a new Power Platform application.
  • Design Dataverse tables, relationships, security, and data access patterns.
  • Develop Model-Driven and/or Canvas Power Apps.
  • Design and implement Azure-based event-driven integrations.
  • Develop Dataverse plug-ins, Custom APIs, connectors, and server-side extensions.
  • Develop using C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, REST, JSON, and Microsoft APIs as applicable.
  • Integrate Power Platform with Azure SQL, enterprise APIs, legacy applications, and external systems.
  • Design synchronous vs. asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Implement authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID and managed identities.
  • Establish DEV, TEST/UAT, and PROD environments.
  • Implement Power Platform ALM using managed solutions, environment variables, connection references, and deployment pipelines.
  • Establish source control and CI/CD using Azure DevOps and/or Power Platform Pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot performance, integration, and application issues.
  • Create architecture diagrams, data models, interface specifications, and deployment documentation.
  • Conduct technical design and code reviews.
  • Support production deployment and transition to operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft PL-600 – Power Platform Solution Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Azure architecture/developer certification
  • Enterprise or Federal Government Power Platform experience
  • Azure DevOps and Agile/SAFe experience
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications using Power Platform and Azure
  • Experience migrating SQL/legacy data into Dataverse
  • Experience with NIST, RMF, or Federal security requirements

Desired Candidate Profile

The successful candidate should be able to independently translate:

Business Requirement → Solution Architecture → Dataverse Data Model → Power App → Events/APIs → Azure Integration → Security → ALM/DevOps → Production Deployment

The individual will serve as a senior technical authority while remaining directly involved in architecture, development, integration, configuration, troubleshooting, and deployment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Equivalent technical education, certifications, and directly relevant enterprise development experience may be considered.
