Job Title: Data Architect - Remote / Telecommute

Job Location: Providence, RI

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Define end to end data architecture for large scale migration programs.
Develop migration strategies from legacy systems to modern cloud data platforms.
Establish data modeling standards, ELT patterns, and performance optimization strategies.
Evaluate and recommend data integration, metadata management, and data lineage solutions.
Lead data assessment and gap analysis for legacy environments.
Design and implement data migration workflows including staging, transformation, and validation.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and reconciliation during migration processes.
Define and implement data governance policies including security, privacy, and access controls.
Establish monitoring and alerting mechanisms for data pipelines.
Collaborate with cross functional teams and provide technical leadership and mentorship.
Translate business requirements into scalable and efficient data solutions.

Requirements/Must Have:

Strong experience in data architecture and ETL or ELT design.
Experience with IBM DataStage and legacy databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Netezza.
Hands on expertise with Matillion, Snowflake, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing concepts.
Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
Strong SQL skills and performance tuning experience.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience:

10 to 15 years of experience in data architecture and data engineering.

Responsibilities:

Lead migration planning and execution activities.
Collaborate with ETL developers to modernize data pipelines.
Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards.
Provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
Drive best practices in data architecture and solution design.

Skills:

Data architecture and data modeling.
ETL and ELT pipeline design.
Cloud data platforms and integration.
Data governance and compliance.
SQL and performance optimization.
Communication and leadership.

Qualification And Education:

Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Certifications in Snowflake, Matillion, or cloud architecture are preferred.
Experience with Agile methodologies and CI or CD practices is preferred.
Familiarity with Python, dbt, or modern data tools is an advantage.
