We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join the APS Product Development Team supporting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) programs focused on detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in government-sponsored health programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, AWS, ActiveMQ/Amazon MQ, SQS, Docker, and Kubernetes, along with experience in Agile/SAFe environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Define API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Implement synchronous REST and asynchronous messaging solutions.
- Work with ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, and SQS.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, estimation, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Write unit and automated tests and participate in code reviews.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, DevSecOps engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
- RESTful APIs and Microservices architecture.
- ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, and/or SQS.
- Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
- OpenAPI/Swagger.
- AWS services including S3, EC2, EKS, RDS, CloudWatch, MQ, and SQS.
- GitHub and Jenkins CI/CD.
- JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, and Selenium.
- SQL and experience with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.
- Python, Bash scripting, and Linux.
- Terraform/IaC experience.
- Monitoring tools such as Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, JMeter, or CloudWatch.
- Experience with SAFe/Scrum, Jira, and Confluence.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- SAFe Agile certification.
- Healthcare IT experience.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- CMS processes and standards.
- Experience with Angular and/or React.
- Experience converting UI/UX wireframes and prototypes into functional applications.
