Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, SQL-focused developer and analyst who specializes in building reliable data solutions. This role involves writing and optimizing SQL to create repeatable data validation checks and deliver clean, trusted datasets for reporting and visualization. The ideal candidate will partner with internal users to clarify requests, define data sources, and translate business requirements into robust data logic.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, views, and datasets to support reporting and operational use cases.
- Write and optimize SQL in PostgreSQL or similar platforms, including multi-table joins, aggregations, window functions, and validation queries.
- Build repeatable data quality checks for issues such as duplicates, missing keys, invalid values, and stale data, documenting root causes and remediation.
- Support database updates and controlled data fixes with complete traceability, including change logs and validation steps.
- Create reporting outputs and lightweight visualizations using tools like Excel or Power BI, ensuring results are explainable and verifiable.
- Translate stakeholder requests into clear definitions, requirements, and acceptance criteria before implementation.
- Maintain documentation for data definitions, mappings, refresh logic, and audit results.
- Contribute to process improvements related to data governance, permissions, and consistent metric definitions.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Experience: This position requires 6-10 years of experience in application development, data analysis, or a related field.
Technical Skills:- Strong SQL experience, with PostgreSQL preferred.
- A solid understanding of relational database fundamentals, including keys, constraints, cardinality, and data integrity.
- Demonstrated experience in debugging data issues and verifying correctness with validation checks.
- Experience building repeatable data audits and reconciliations, including documenting findings and fixes.
- Proficiency with Excel for data validation and reporting, such as using pivots and lookups.
- Clear communication skills to explain logic and assumptions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing scripts for data automation, preferably in Python.
- Familiarity with data visualization or BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Grafana.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud data patterns, including RDS, S3, Athena, or Glue.
- Certifications in AWS, Microsoft Power BI, or project management methodologies like PMP or Agile.
- Familiarity with asset management systems or time-series data concepts.
- Experience using database tools like DBeaver and knowledge of query performance tuning basics.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $45.00 to $52.08 per hour. Please note that this pay range is a good faith estimate that may be impacted by factors such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
