OverviewGovCIO is currently hiring for a
Senior Logistics Automation Engineer with advanced expertise in automated supply chain systems and lifecycle management to lead design, optimization, and integration of logistics automation solutions for a mission-critical U.S. Coast Guard program. This position willbe located in Alexandria, VA and will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities- Drive the design and implementation of advanced logistics automation strategies to support enterprise operational objectives.
- Lead complex system integrations, process automation, and optimization efforts across multi-site environments.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for critical automation issues impacting readiness and compliance.
- Develop sophisticated automation frameworks using scripting and workflow tools to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Oversee automated inventory and asset management processes, ensuring alignment with DoD and USCG standards.
- Integrate logistics automation into modernization initiatives and digital platforms to accelerate deployment cycles.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align automation solutions with organizational objectives and mission requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for automation architecture, operational procedures, and compliance standards.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience - Clearance: Active Secret clearance.
- Automation Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in logistics automation, system integration, and process optimization.
- Tools & Systems: Proficiency with logistics management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and automation platforms.
- Scripting: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for workflow automation.
- Compliance: Strong knowledge of DoD and USCG logistics policies and standards
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex automation challenges.
Preferred Skills and Experience - Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments.
- Data Analysis: Familiarity with SQL or data visualization tools for logistics reporting.
- Cloud Experience: Exposure to cloud-based logistics platforms or digital supply chain solutions.
- Process Improvement: Understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
