Summary

Description: The Drexel Way:
We don't just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we've been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren\'t just a team member - you're an owner.

The Mission:
As a Cabinetry Category Manager, your primary objective is to protect the investment and serve as the Cabinetry stakeholder and buyer for the cabinetry product line. You are responsible for driving category profitability, establishing standard operating procedures for estimates and orders, managing vendor relationships, and liquidating aged inventory. As a partnered leader in Product Supply & Category Management, you ensure our commitment to local builders is executed flawlessly through price integrity, product availability, and On Time, In Full (OTIF) delivery.

Defining the Role:
  • P&L Stewardship & Rebate Capture: Maintain a growth mindset over financial performance; monitor cost drift, negotiate vendor terms, and ensure 100% capture of back-end vendor rebate dollars.
  • Process & Procedure Standardization: Create and enforce SOPs for cabinetry takeoffs, material estimates, and order placement to protect builders from material surprises and eliminate waste.
  • Special Order & Inventory Liability Management: Enforce the 45/75/90-day aging clock for custom inventory, identify abandoned goods, and execute bi-annual "Boneyard Days" liquidation events.
  • Vendor Accountability & Scorecards: Evaluate vendor partners on lead times, product quality, and order accuracy while managing vendor recovery for Material Discrepancies.
  • Estimating & Product Strategy Alignment: Supply the team with accurate product strategy, preferred vendor data, and stock SKUs to ensure estimating math aligns with buying power.
  • Design Drift & Forensic Auditing: Audit estimates to ensure stocked alternatives are prioritized over non-stock items, and analyze field failures to fix vendor quality issues or template flaws.
  • Collaborative Stakeholder Support: Partner with Account Managers, Market Leaders, and Regional Market Leaders to drive product education and enforce category alignment across all markets.
What Success Looks Like:
Performance is measured by your direct impact on category profitability, inventory efficiency, and process alignment across our markets:

  • Category Health Index: Tracking overall category financial performance and the ratio of program-aligned versus off-program material usage.
  • SO Aging Balance: Minimizing the total dollar value of custom cabinetry inventory aged beyond 60 days.
  • Gross Margin ROI (GMROI): Maximizing profit returns relative to the total dollar investment in category inventory.
  • Rebate & Cost Optimization: Achieving 100% back-end vendor rebate collection and lowering procurement costs through aggressive vendor negotiations.
  • Procedure Compliance: Reducing ordering errors and job-site material surprises through strict adherence to takeoff SOPs.
  • Boneyard Recovery Rate: Rapidly clearing dead stock and recovering capital through bi-annual liquidation events.
The Drexel Advantage:
The Wealth-Builder (Ownership)

  • ESOP Shares: We don't just work here; we own the place. You'll earn a real stake in the company's success.
  • Profit Sharing: When Drexel wins, our team wins.
  • 401k: A solid foundation for your long-term retirement goals.

Health & Well-Being

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance to keep you and your family "weather-proof."
  • Fitness Reimbursements: Annual funds dedicated to your physical health and family activities.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support when life gets complex.

Life & Legacy

  • Immediate Paid Time Off: Start with Holiday and Vacation pay from day one.
  • Scholarship Program: We're invested in the next generation-educational support for the children of our team members.
  • Annual Charity Match: We'll double your impact on the causes you care about most.

The "Drexel" Lifestyle

  • Birthday PTO: A paid day off to celebrate you .
  • Product Discounts: Special pricing on the high-quality materials we sell.
  • Plus More: A constant stream of "fun little perks" that make the yard a great place to be.
