The Network Transport Engineer is part of the Technology Solutions organization, supporting
Transport and Access Engineering initiatives. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of a highly available and scalable transport network that enables reliable data delivery across enterprise and carrier environments. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across carrier Ethernet, IP routing, optical transport, and automation, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Planning
- Design, model, and plan transport network architectures to support current and future business needs
- Analyze network capacity, performance, and resiliency requirements
- Support network expansion, optimization, and technology refresh initiatives
Implementation & Engineering
- Install, configure, and deploy transport network hardware and software
- Configure routing, switching, wireless, and transport protocols across multiple platforms
- Integrate new technologies into existing network environments
Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor network health and performance to ensure reliability, scalability, and security
- Perform Tier 2-4 troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues
- Execute maintenance activities, upgrades, and break/fix support as needed
Automation & Efficiency
- Leverage automation tools and scripting to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and operational workflows
- Improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention across transport systems
Security & Access Control
- Implement centralized authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms
- Ensure network security best practices are followed across transport infrastructure
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with technology vendors to evaluate solutions and align with roadmap direction
- Co-manage vendor performance and participate in technology assessments and selection
Documentation
- Create and maintain functional requirements, technical specifications, and test documentation
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and troubleshooting records

- Ability to collaborate across engineering teams and vendors

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
