Role Overview
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for a contract role focused on the development of embedded software for commercial products. This position involves leading development efforts, defining software architecture, and mentoring other engineers. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week engagement through the end of the year, with the potential for extension or conversion to a full-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of embedded software, including controller software, tools, simulation, automation, and testing.
- Drive global software architecture decisions, establish best practices, and mentor engineers across teams.
- Translate business and system requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions.
- Partner with field teams to improve UI/UX and first-time fix rates.
- Integrate cybersecurity standards and modern delivery practices, including CI/CD and automated testing.
- Support project planning and lead complex troubleshooting efforts across new and legacy systems.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 12+ years of experience, or a master's degree with 10+ years of experience.
Experience: Advanced expertise across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and proven experience leading multiple projects simultaneously. Hands-on experience with embedded interfaces and protocols such as CAN, RS232/422/485, SPI, I2C, timers, EEPROM, and flash drivers.
Technical Skills: Strong embedded C/C++ development experience. Experience with VB.NET or C# for UI/UX simulator tools. Proficiency with RTOS, multi-threaded applications, kernel/driver development, BSPs, and bootloaders. Familiarity with advanced real-time debugging tools (JTAG/BDM, logic analyzers, scopes, CANalyzer), source control tools (Git, Subversion, Atlassian), and development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Event-Driven).
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Rate: $80.47 per hour.
