OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks two senior product managers to drive next-generation technology solutions for its Middle Office Technology team. One role will primarily partner with Front and Middle Office stakeholders, and the other will focus on supporting Legal and External Communications teams. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
Depending on your background and interests, you ll focus on one of two senior product manager roles:
Front Office-Focused Role:
- Partner closely with investment professionals, traders, and operations teams to define, prioritize, and launch technology solutions supporting trade lifecycle management, securities reference data, trade booking, corporate actions, and controls.
- Act as a senior product lead and trusted advisor to Front and Middle Office stakeholders, driving initiatives that boost operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Translate complex business needs into clear technical deliverables for software developers and QA engineers.
Legal/External Communications-Focused Role:
- Collaborate with Legal team to assess, design, and deliver technology solutions that modernize legal operations across functional areas (e.g., trading agreements, investment products, intellectual property, transactional deal support, and other areas). This includes conducting build-vs-buy analyses, implementing document and knowledge management systems, developing AI- and metadata-enabled tools for drafting and research, and creating scalable infrastructure where little or no technology currently exists.
- Collaborate with External Communications team to identify, prioritize, and implement technology solutions that support brand and marketing initiatives across audiences and mediums. This may include implementing versatile content management systems, streamlining technology-driven content creation and workflow management, and developing AI-enabled tools.
- Lead requirements gathering and prioritization across stakeholder groups, develop and maintain product roadmaps, and proactively identify opportunities for workflow automation, data integrity improvements, and operational resilience.
WHO WE RE LOOKING FOR:
- A bachelor s degree or higher is required, with at least seven years of relevant product or technology management experience in investment management, trading operations, or financial technology.
- Deep understanding of securities lifecycle management, front and middle office workflows, trade processing, and reference data systems; experience with legal, regulatory, or communications systems is a plus.
- Experience working with software development teams to design and deliver complex technical solutions in a fast-paced financial environment.
- Keen analytical, organization, and prioritization skills; demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional initiatives from inception to completion.
- Impressive verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate with and influence partners across investment, legal, and technology domains.
- High degree of professional integrity and discretion when handling sensitive business and client information.
- Skilled at proactively identifying and addressing complex, ambiguous problems with attention to detail and a service mindset. Familiarity with investment management systems, regulatory workflows, databases, and relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#) is a plus.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $230,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
