Summary

Job Summary
We are hiring an IT Support Specialist, IT Asset Technician, for an onsite contract-to-hire opportunity in San Jose, CA. This role is ideal for a hands-on, organized IT professional who enjoys supporting technology operations, managing equipment logistics, and helping employees get the hardware they need to be productive.

You will join a fast-paced IT services environment where teamwork, communication, and accuracy are valued. This is a strong opportunity to build experience in desktop support, IT asset management, device preparation, inventory control, and hardware lifecycle processes while working with a supportive team focused on reliable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laptops, mobile devices, and related IT equipment for new hires and internal users.
- Manage IT asset inventory, including tracking, organizing, updating, and maintaining accurate records.
- Process returned equipment, inspect devices, and coordinate next steps for reuse, repair, or storage.
- Package, ship, receive, and move hardware while following established procedures.
- Support desktop service and support activities related to equipment logistics, setup, and asset control.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and users to ensure timely equipment fulfillment and issue resolution.

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range is $27 to $32 per hour.
- Contract/temporary, 3 to 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity.
- Onsite position in San Jose, CA.

Additional Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare and stage laptops, mobile devices, and IT hardware for employee use.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records and inventory updates.
- Coordinate equipment returns, shipping, receiving, and hardware movement.
- Support day-to-day IT equipment logistics in a fast-paced onsite environment.

- 1 to 3 years of experience in IT Support, Desktop Support, IT Asset Management, or a similar technical support role.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as part of equipment handling responsibilities.
- Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced, service-oriented IT environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laptop imaging, device provisioning, or new hire equipment setup.
- Familiarity with IT asset tracking systems, ticketing tools, or inventory management processes.
- Prior experience supporting hardware logistics, shipping, receiving, or equipment returns.
- Ability to prioritize requests, follow procedures, and work collaboratively with IT support teams.
