NextGen Health Implementation Clinical Analyst
Duration: 12+month
Project Location: Bloomington & Granite City, IL / Hybrid: Hybrid (estimated ~ 70% onsite)
2 rounds of interviews for each candidate before client approval.

Position Overview
The NextGen Health Implementation Clinical Analyst is responsible for supporting the configuration, optimization, and deployment of the NextGen Electronic Health Record (EHR) system from a clinical workflow perspective. This role bridges the gap between clinical staff and IT teams, ensuring that the system is configured to support efficient patient care, regulatory compliance, and accurate clinical documentation. The Clinical Analyst works closely with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and healthcare administrators to translate clinical requirements into functional system configurations, templates, and workflows within the
NextGen platform.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Workflow Analysis
• Assess current clinical workflows across departments, including:
o Primary care
o Specialty care
o Nursing operations
o Ancillary services
• Identify workflow gaps and recommend improvements aligned with EHR functionality.
• Document future-state workflows aligned with NextGen best practices.
EHR Configuration & Build
• Configure and maintain clinical components within NextGen Healthcare EHR, including:
o Clinical documentation templates
o Order sets
o Medication management workflows
o Clinical decision support rules
• Customize templates for different specialties and providers.
Data Migration & Clinical Content Validation
• Assist with mapping legacy clinical data into the NextGen system.
• Validate clinical data accuracy after migration.
• Ensure that patient records maintain integrity across systems.
Testing & Quality Assurance
• Develop and execute test scripts for clinical workflows.
• Support:
o Unit testing
o Integration testing
o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Identify defects and coordinate resolution with technical teams.
Training & End-User Support
• Provide training to clinicians and clinical support staff.
• Develop training materials including:
o Workflow guides
o Tip sheets
o System documentation
• Provide go-live support and command center leadership.
Regulatory & Clinical Compliance
• Ensure system configuration supports regulatory standards including:
o HIPAA compliance
o CMS quality reporting
o Meaningful Use / Promoting Interoperability requirements
• Support clinical reporting and quality measure tracking.
Post-Implementation Optimization
• Gather feedback from clinical users after go-live.
• Recommend system enhancements to improve usability and clinical efficiency.
• Assist with upgrades and system enhancements.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
o Nursing
o Health Informatics
o Healthcare Administration
o Clinical Sciences
o Information Systems
Clinical degrees (RN, LPN, MA, or similar) are highly valued.
Experience
• 3–7 years of healthcare clinical or healthcare IT experience
• Experience supporting EHR implementations or upgrades
• Hands-on experience with NextGen EHR configuration or clinical workflow optimization
• Experience working with providers, nurses, and medical staff during system implementations
Preferred Certifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) or clinical credential (preferred)
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)
• NextGen Clinical System Certification (if applicable)
