Responsibilities Internship Summary - The Internship Program with Ascension Technologies is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity to gain "real world" IT work experience in a large IT service environment.
- As a Cybersecurity Operations Intern, you will join a high-performing team dedicated to defending Ascension Technologies from sophisticated threats.
- Ascension Technologies aims to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop technical skills by spending the summer in the "Control Room," learning how to hunt for adversaries and investigate security breaches.
What You Will Do As an Ascension Technologies Intern, you will be able to work on real-life and meaningful projects, develop your technical skills, collaborate, and network with various teams across the IT Infrastructure and Security continuum.
- Threat Research: Perform deep-dive research into adversaries and monitor the dark web to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Intelligence Production: Monitor OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) and create intelligence bulletins for the organization.
- Threat Hunting: Proactively search for signs of malicious activity (adversary hunting) within the environment.
- Collaboration: Work with technical teams to gather requirements and engineer rules based on evidence-based practices.
RequirementsEducation:
- High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.
Additional Preferences What You Will Need Education: - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Competencies: - Research Passion: A passion for structured research, evidence-based practice, and monitoring global trends.
- Tool Interest: Interest in specialized intelligence platforms such as Flashpoint and Cyware.
- Communication: Comfort in translating functional requirements into technical specifications and presenting research findings to small groups.
- General IT Skills: Proficiency with Google Office tools (meetings, slides, spreadsheets) and familiarity with relational databases/data structures.
