Job Title: Bioinformatics Software Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Software Engineer (In Test) to support the development, verification, and validation of high-quality bioinformatics software solutions. This role blends strong software engineering practices with scientific rigor, ensuring data accuracy, system reliability, and compliance with technical and scientific requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, scientific, and quality teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain reusable, scalable bioinformatics tools and component libraries for data processing and verification
Analyze biological and computational data to validate technical performance specifications and scientific accuracy
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data discrepancies; document findings and provide clear, actionable recommendations
Participate in requirements gathering, architectural discussions, and design review sessions
Support execution of dry-run testing, system verification, and formal validation activities
Present technical solutions, test results, analyses, and findings to cross-functional stakeholders
Adhere to established software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, quality standards, and best practices
Qualifications
Education (Degree flexible based on experience)
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field from an accredited institution
Experience Requirements (Based on education level)
Bachelor’s degree: 10+ years of relevant experience
Master’s degree: 8+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
PhD: 6+ years of relevant experience
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to scientific and technical detail
Experience with bioinformatics workflows, data analysis, or scientific software development best practices
Ability to validate data integrity, performance, and accuracy across complex systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, scientific, and quality stakeholders
