We have a new 12-month contract opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Solutions Architect supporting manufacturing system design and implementation. This is a remote, onshore role, with a preference for candidates in the Chicago area and approximately 5% travel.
The ideal candidate will bring 8–11 years of experience designing and integrating manufacturing systems across enterprise IT and operational technology environments. Key experience should include ERP, MES, WMS, PLM, PLCs, SCADA, historians, industrial IoT, and shop-floor equipment, along with the ability to define end-to-end architectures, APIs, data flows, integration patterns, and scalable platforms across multiple plants or regions.
The typical schedule is 40 hours per week, with occasional off-hours support for critical issues.
Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users. Defines systems requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms. Defines technical standards and functionality tests. May develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides. Typically requires a bachelor's degree and experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Generally supports unique/rare skills or niche/emerging technologies, such as BIG Data, CRM, Enterprise Architect, SAP, and TIBCO. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
