Salesforce Developer Position Overview

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for the end-to-end engineering, support, optimization, and enhancement of a large-scale Salesforce platform used across statewide public health programs. This role ensures the platform remains secure, stable, scalable, and compliant with technology governance requirements by leading technical initiatives, modernizing workflows, improving integration pipelines, and training internal staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Application Support & Maintenance
• Perform expert-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for Salesforce core, Experience Cloud, custom components, and integrations.
• Monitor job queues, APIs, logs, governor limits, and system performance to maintain platform stability.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, data dictionaries, and workflow inventories.
• Conduct code refactoring, technical debt reduction, and security remediation.
2. Development, Enhancements & Modernization
• Architect and build custom features using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, data models, and security permissions.
• Lead code reviews, enforce secure coding practices, and maintain high unit test coverage.
• Manage multi-environment deployment releases (Dev, QA, UAT, Staging, Prod) via CI/CD pipelines and version control.
3. Integration & Interoperability
• Design, optimize, and maintain API-based integrations (including MuleSoft or similar middleware frameworks).
• Ensure secure and reliable data exchange between Salesforce and external public health surveillance, analytics, and reporting systems.
• Monitor API throughput, rate limits, and health while implementing retry and resilience patterns.
4. Security, Compliance & Governance
• Implement and enforce security controls such as Field Audit Trail, Event Monitoring, Platform Encryption, MFA, and least privilege access models.
• Adhere to cybersecurity guidelines and secure SDLC standards.
• Address vulnerability remediations and participate in architectural reviews.
5. Enterprise-Scale Operations
• Manage sandbox refresh strategies and environment alignment across project lifecycles.
• Set up monitoring dashboards, alerting, and performance observability tools.
• Support platform continuity, disaster recovery (DR) planning, and backup/restore validations.
6. Training & Knowledge Transfer
• Create structured training programs and documentation (architecture diagrams, deployment guides, standards) for internal staff.
• Mentor team members to build internal technical capacity and facilitate seamless post-implementation handoffs.
7. Licensing & Platform Strategy
• Evaluate license allocations across Salesforce Core, Experience Cloud, and API usage to optimize costs and meet organizational growth demands.
