HHSC has issued a request for a Senior BI Developer to support the State Health Analytics Reporting Platform (SHARP). They will be responsible for designing and publishing dashboards and reports using Tableau or Power BI based on business requirements, translating program needs into actionable data visualizations, validates reporting accuracy, and collaborates with technical and program teams to promote enterprise reporting solutions. In addition to BI experience, candidates should also have strong experience working with large-scale datasets and ETL processes, including Informatica.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
· Review and evaluate business systems and user needs, and design solutions that align with strategic objectives and improve operational efficiency.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and apply industry-standard methodologies to reengineer workflows using technology.
· Document user requirements, system functionalities, and perform solution analysis including cost-benefit, ROI, and build vs. buy evaluations.
Minimum Candidate Characteristics:
- 8+ years creating reports and performing data analysis using Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or comparable BI tools
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into dashboards and validated reporting solutions
- Strong SQL experience supporting enterprise reporting and data-driven decision environments
Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
- Experience with an HHS agency
- Experience working with large-scale datasets in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or Snowflake environments
- Experience using Informatica ETL tools to support data transformation and reporting pipelines
- Hands-on experience developing dashboards in both Tableau and Power BI
Target Pay Rate to you (C2C):
Expected Duration: 7 months / 1192 hours (4/13/26 – 8/31/26)
Location: Hybrid (2-remote, 3-onsite)-Candidates must be local to the Austin area

Contractor will support the State Health Analytics Reporting Platform (SHARP) by creating dashboards and reports using Tableau or PowerBI as determined by the business requirements. Contractor will translate business requirements into Tableau/PowerBI reports, and work with the program staff to ensure it meets the needs of the customer. Contractor will participate in testing or reports and dashboards to ensure proper function, and work with coworkers to publish and promote the reports as needed. Experience with Informatica ETL tools strongly preferred.
Contractor will be required to be on site 3 days per week currently, but this is subject to change.
