Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Power BI Technical Lead to drive the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise‑grade analytics and reporting solutions. This role will own the end‑to‑end Power BI technical strategy, establish standards and governance, and ensure scalable, secure, and cloud‑native BI solutions aligned with modern data platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in semantic modeling, performance optimization, deployment automation, and cloud data warehouse integration, along with a strong understanding of Power BI platform capabilities and roadmap evolution. This role requires both hands‑on technical leadership and the ability to guide teams toward best‑in‑class analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Power BI solutions across reporting and analytics initiatives.
  • Design scalable and performant semantic models using dimensional modeling best practices, including star schemas, optimized relationships, and cardinality management.
  • Champion innovative visualization patterns and advanced Power BI visual techniques to transform complex data into clear, actionable, and visually compelling insights.
  • Support migration or coexistence initiatives involving SAP BusinessObjects (WebI, Universes) and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects (WebI, Universes).
  • Analyze and translate existing SAP BO reports and semantic layers into optimized Power BI datasets and dashboards.
  • Define, document, and enforce Power BI standards, governance frameworks, naming conventions, and performance guidelines.
  • Develop advanced DAX calculations, measures, and calculated tables, and optimize model performance for large‑scale datasets.
  • Architect and implement advanced Power BI capabilities, including:
    • Aggregations
    • Incremental refresh strategies
    • Row‑level security (RLS)
    • Composite and hybrid models
    • Dataflows
  • Design and manage Power BI Deployment Pipelines across Development, Test, and Production environments, aligned with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Fabric components – Lakehouse Integrations ,One lake organization , Direct  Lake, Notebook and Real Time Intelligence
  • Architect cloud‑native BI solutions integrated with modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse platforms.
  • Ensure high‑performance data models leveraging appropriate storage modes (Import, DirectQuery, Hybrid).
  • Integrate Power BI with enterprise applications using APIs and embedded analytics patterns.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to align warehouse structures, transformation layers, and semantic models with reporting needs.
  • Translate complex datasets into intuitive, visually compelling dashboards and executive‑ready insights.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural oversight to Power BI developers and BI teams.
  • Stay current with Power BI and MS Fabric roadmap features, platform enhancements, and Fabric innovations; evaluate and implement new capabilities where appropriate.

 

Required Skillset

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in BI and analytics, with 5+ years of hands‑on Power BI development and architecture experience.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Semantic modeling and dataset design
    • Advanced DAX development and performance tuning
    • Aggregations and incremental refresh strategies
    • Deployment pipelines and DevOps practices
    • Power BI Service administration and governance
  • Solid understanding of cloud‑native architecture principles.
  • Proven experience working with enterprise Data Warehouse environments, including dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT concepts.
  • Experience integrating Power BI using REST APIs and embedded analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and query performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to design impactful, visually effective analytics solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise‑scale reporting and analytics frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data security, governance, and compliance best practices.
  • Microsoft Power BI certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience in financial services or enterprise reporting environments (preferred).
