Hybrid Onsite 5 days/week, alternating weeks in Merrimack, NH

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Cloud Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in Oracle technologies, specifically focused on cloud engineering rather than database administration. This role is integral to our team responsible for building and deploying Oracle cloud database platforms across various business units within Fidelity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services, with a preference for experience in finance or fintech environments. This Database Engineer will be hired to design, build, and maintain enterprise Oracle database platforms across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments. The role focuses on platform engineering, automation, and high availability using Oracle RAC, GoldenGate, and modern DevOps tooling. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, resilient solutions and establish best practices that enhance reliability and performance.

Rate: $65.00 to $70.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Cloud Infrastructure Development: Design and develop cloud infrastructure, including spinning up EC2 instances and deploying databases or releases onto virtual machines.
  • Automation Scripting: Create and implement automation scripts for the deployment of tools and Oracle functions such as observer, Oracle auditing, and OEM.
  • Shell Scripting: Develop shell scripts for automation and deployment tasks, utilizing Jenkins for tool deployment.
  • Cloud Formation & Terraform: Utilize CloudFormation and Terraform (transitioning to OpenTOFU) for infrastructure as code.
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Work with Jenkins, GIT, and Artifactory to manage code and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of Oracle solutions on AWS and Azure platforms.Design, maintain, and enhance Oracle database solutions for AWS, Azure, and on-prem platforms.

Core tasks:
  • Engineer highly available and scalable Oracle platforms leveraging distributed database patterns.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to build, configure, and debug CI/CD pipelines and automation.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting using tools such as Datadog, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Provide production support for high availability systems and participate in an on-call schedule.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Python, Groovy, Java, Jenkins, and shell scripting.
  • Evaluate and propose tools and engineering best practices for database platform reliability.
  • Define and lead development standards and coding best practices.
  • Perform independent technical and functional analysis across multiple projects.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation supporting corporate initiatives.
  • Support and perform all phases of testing through implementation.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
  • Represent technology solutions to business partners.
  • Serve as an on-call resource per the organization's escalation model.
  • Design proofs of concept to validate data engineering practices focused on database features and performance.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and provide support for development and production issues.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oracle engineering, with a focus on cloud technologies.
  • Financial Experience: Proven experience in the financial sector, with a strong understanding of financial systems and processes (Ideally)

Technical Skills:
  • Extensive experience with Oracle Cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in developing cloud infrastructure and deploying Oracle databases on AWS.
  • Strong scripting skills in shell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, Jenkins, GIT, and Artifactory.
  • Python programming skills are a plus.
  • Experience in large hybrid database environments spanning on-prem and public cloud.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying data solutions in AWS and Azure.
  • Practical expertise migrating databases from on-premises to public cloud.
  • Experience designing and implementing resilient Oracle database platforms, including distributed database patterns.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle RAC performance challenges.
  • Experience configuring alerts and monitors with Datadog, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Strong production support background for high availability systems and participation in US on-call schedules.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools including GitHub, Artifactory, and Jenkins.
  • Ability to automate administrative tasks using Python, Groovy, Java, Jenkins, and shell scripting.
  • Ability to assess and recommend best-of-breed tools and engineering practices.
  • 12+ years in Oracle Database Administration, Performance Engineering, or Replication Engineering across Linux and engineered systems.
  • Expertise with Oracle GoldenGate replication on Oracle RAC and Exadata.

Education Requirements:
  • AWS certification (preferred)
  • Azure certification (preferred)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required)
