Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead financial operations within a growing insurance brokerage organization. This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on accounting oversight, supporting business growth through accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, financial planning, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in insurance brokerage accounting, commission-based revenue models, financial close processes, and business partnering with operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly financial close and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, commission receivables, and direct bill accounting.
• Ensure proper revenue recognition for commissions, fees, and brokerage-related income.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including cash application, accounts receivable, and payables.
• Oversee commission reconciliation processes and identify revenue leakage risks.
• Support audits, maintain financial controls, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, KPI reporting, and financial performance analysis.
• Partner with leadership on revenue forecasting, compensation tracking, and business planning.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and scalable financial infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Strong insurance brokerage industry experience required.
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Director, or senior accounting leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial close, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Experience with insurance agency management systems such as EPIC, Applied, or AMS360 preferred.
• Advanced Excel, financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
• Proven ability to partner with business leaders and deliver actionable financial insights.
