Job Description

We are looking for a COBOL Software Developer to design and develop scalable software solutions while adhering to coding standards and participating in agile processes. This position will be full-time and remote.

What You?ll Do

• Design and create engineering specifications for software applications and programs

• Write code that adheres to coding standards and perform code reviews

• Generate ideas, explore, and implement technical solutions to achieve required product features

• Monitor technical processes against project plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability, and performance

• Participate in agile ceremonies, assist in sprint planning, and complete required sprints

• Communicate blockers to the Scrum Master in a timely manner

• Drive story creation, including Definition of Done (DoD), Acceptance Criteria, and estimation

• Create tasks for stories in applicable software (e.g., RTC, Jira) and update their status and assignment

• Monitor work against production schedules and provide progress updates or report issues regularly

• Mentor associate software engineers as needed

• Perform other duties as assigned or requested

What You\'ll Need

Required:

• Bachelor?s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field

• 3 years of proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns in building scalable, highly available systems

• 3 years of experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica preferred) and experience with at least two of the following: React, Angular v4+, NodeJS, NoSQL databases, HTML5, CSS, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services

• 3 years of understanding web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, and JSON

Preferred:

• Master?s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

• 5 years of experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Java, Python (Django/Flask), C/C++, C#, Objective C, JavaScript, or Go

• 5 years of experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs for optimizing short-term execution while planning long-term technical capabilities

• 5 years of experience working with a variety of technology systems, designing solutions, or developing applications in healthcare

• 5 years of experience translating design mockups, prototypes, and user stories into working applications

• 5 years of ability to produce code that is fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

• Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person

• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$50-$60 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
