Position SummaryDevelops new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems. Includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic.. May work with support of more senior engineers. Works closely with the overall team to design systems meeting the product requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering
Responsibilities1) Designs new control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material handling systems and proposes modifications to existing equipment; customizes standard designs based on customer specifications and scope documents
2) Reviews customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarification
3) Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipment
4) Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication
5) Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs
6) Maintains progress schedules that meet project milestones
7) Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control
8) Perform prototype development and testing
9) Performs on-site commissioning to implement and validate the system design
10) Performs process checks and reviews the output by other team members
11) Travel up to 50%, mostly within North America
QualificationsEducation and Experience Requirements 1) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
2) Minimium of 4 years of material handling related experience
3) Experience with ASRS, sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design required
4) Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools required
5) Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design including execution of risk assessments required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements 1) Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA
2) Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCs a plus
3) Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical
4) Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
5) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6) Team-oriented and collaborative
7) Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
8) Ability to learn new technologies
9) Self-motivated
10) Ability to work non-traditional hours
11) Ability to speak Japanese is a plus
12) Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
