Senior Business Analyst Investment Data Modernization & Cloud Transformation

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to play a critical role in our enterprise data modernization and cloud transformation initiative. This position will serve as the bridge between investment business teams, operations, finance, and technology, helping transform legacy investment data platforms into a modern, cloud-based data ecosystem.

The ideal candidate combines deep investment management domain expertise with experience delivering large-scale data and technology transformation initiatives. This individual understands how investment data flows across the investment lifecycle from underwriting and portfolio management through fund accounting, investor reporting, and analytics and can translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.

This role will partner closely with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to design and implement modern data capabilities that improve operational efficiency, reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

• Partner with front office, middle office, finance, accounting, operations, and technology teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
• Lead discovery sessions to understand current-state business processes, pain points, and future-state operating models.
• Create business process maps, user stories, functional specifications, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Facilitate workshops between business and technical teams to drive alignment and solution design.

Investment Data Modernization

• Support the modernization of investment data platforms by defining business requirements for cloud-based data architecture and enterprise data products.
• Analyze legacy investment systems and recommend improvements to simplify and standardize investment data.
• Define business rules governing investment data, fund accounting data, portfolio data, and investor reporting data.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams on data ingestion, transformation, integration, and consumption requirements.
• Support migration of investment data from legacy applications to modern cloud data platforms.

Cloud Transformation

• Partner with Cloud Engineering and Enterprise Data teams to support migration initiatives involving Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or similar cloud technologies.
• Define source-to-target mappings for cloud data pipelines.
• Assist with data validation and reconciliation during migration activities.
• Participate in cloud solution design reviews to ensure business requirements are accurately represented.
• Support implementation of modern reporting and self-service analytics capabilities.

Data Governance & Data Quality

• Define critical business data elements and business glossary definitions.
• Document data lineage across front office, operations, accounting, and reporting platforms.
• Identify data quality issues and recommend remediation strategies.
• Partner with Data Governance teams to establish data standards, ownership, and stewardship.
• Develop business rules supporting Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives.

Testing & Delivery

• Develop business test scenarios and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans.
• Coordinate business validation activities for cloud migration releases.
• Validate data accuracy across legacy and target systems.
• Support Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and demonstrations.

• 7+ years of Business Analysis experience within investment management, private equity, private credit, hedge funds, asset management, or alternative investments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise data modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
• Hands-on experience working directly with investment management datasets, including:
