POSITION OVERVIEW
The DevOps Migration Specialist drives the transition of IBM Z application development and change management toolchains from legacy CA/Broadcom ISV products to IBM's modern DevOps platform. The role encompasses CA Endevor to IBM DBB/IDz/IDD migration, CA Easytrieve to IBM COBOL conversion using IBM Migration Utility, and CICS Batch Application Control implementation. The ideal candidate brings a strong z/OS application development or systems programming background and is comfortable working at the intersection of mainframe and modern CI/CD practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the migration from CA Endevor to IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), and IBM DevOps Deploy (IDD).
Implement and configure CI/CD pipelines integrating GitHub, Jenkins, and Artifactory with IBM Z tooling.
Execute CA Easytrieve to IBM COBOL migrations using the IBM Migration Utility for z/OS, including discovery, batch conversion, parallel testing, and output comparison.
Manage CICS Batch Application Control (CBAC) migrations from CA DADS Plus, including control file creation and JCL generation.
Provide installation and migration expertise across z/OS and USS environments.
Train application developers on IBM DevOps tools and modern z/OS development practices.
Debug pipeline and build failures; provide root-cause analysis and remediation.
Collaborate with client application development teams on migration readiness, parallel testing, and production promotion.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, best practices guides, and migration runbooks.
