The Migration Deployment Specialist — Scheduling is a subject matter expert in IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IWS) who leads the migration of batch scheduling products from CA/Broadcom and other ISV platforms to IWS on z/OS. The role requires both deep technical knowledge of mainframe scheduling and the interpersonal skills necessary to work closely with application schedulers, operations teams, and project managers throughout a parallel-tracking migration process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and perform complex migrations of batch workload automation definitions from CA ESP, CA-7, and other ISV schedulers to IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
• Conduct parallel tracking of the batch cycle during migration, collaborating with application schedulers to review migrated schedules and resolve dependencies.
• Investigate and analyze scheduling reports to draw conclusions regarding migration activities and define corrective actions.
• Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering migration actions, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Monitor workload via the ISPF dialog and apply problem determination skills to diagnose and resolve scheduling issues.
• Provide training to application development, application schedulers, and operations teams on IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
• Collaborate as an integrated team member with internal employees, project managers, contractors, and client staff.
• Apply best practice clean-up procedures ahead of migration to streamline the conversion process.
Required Skills:
5+ Years Mainframe (OS/390, z/OS)
5+ Years IBM Z Workload Scheduler experience
Proficient with TSO/ISPF editing
Excellent understanding of Job Control Language (JCL)
Excellent communication skills
Desired Skills:
REXX Programming experience
Workload Automation Programming Language experience
Strong analytic abilities – studying multiple reports to identify cause and effect.
Experience with other mainframe scheduling products such as CA7, CA-ESP, BMC Control-M, etc.
Dynamic Workload Console navigation and installation experience
Project Management experience

• Prior experience migrating other mainframe scheduling tools to IBM Z Workload Scheduler.
• Basic z/OS System Programming knowledge.
• Technical pre-sales experience.
• System administration scheduling experience with Open Systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux).
