The Staff Cloud Engineer is a senior engineering role responsible for designing and guiding the architecture of scalable cloud infrastructure environments that support complex enterprise workloads. This position provides technical leadership in cloud strategy, infrastructure standards, and operational best practices while maintaining a hands-on engineering approach. The role partners closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to design modern cloud applications, hybrid infrastructure, and resilient systems that meet evolving business objectives. This position also contributes to architectural standards, cloud governance, and continuous improvement across engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable cloud architectures that align with business objectives and infrastructure standards.
Develop and maintain reference architectures, high-level designs, networking maps, state diagrams, and technical roadmaps.
Evaluate and recommend cloud services across networking, compute, storage, and platform capabilities.
Lead architecture planning for hybrid cloud and on-premises environments supporting mission-critical workloads.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure best practices in infrastructure design, deployment, and operational excellence.
Create architecture documentation including design specifications, migration plans, security checklists, and implementation guides.
Provide technical leadership on infrastructure as code, cloud governance, and automation practices.
Engage with stakeholders and technical teams to align architecture decisions with timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements.
Work with cybersecurity and governance teams to establish guardrails, access structures, and data protection strategies.
Develop proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches.
Perform root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents and recommend long-term improvements.
Identify opportunities to optimize infrastructure costs while maintaining service reliability and performance.
Participate in architecture reviews, project planning sessions, and post-implementation evaluations.
Mentor engineering teams and contribute to a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
Deep understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) including IAM, authentication protocols, and networking.
Proven experience solving capacity challenges using dynamic scaling, containerization or serverless architectures, and high availability design patterns.
Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments and connectivity solutions.
Strong understanding of distributed and centralized infrastructure architecture models.
Mastery of AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
Hands-on experience with at least two programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Experience implementing infrastructure as code using Terraform and/or Terragrunt.
Expertise in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and infrastructure reliability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience building deployment pipelines and enabling self-service platforms.
Ability to collaborate across engineering teams and technical stakeholders.
Preferred (Optional):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.
Experience in media, broadcast, or large-scale live event technology environments.
Additional certifications such as CCIP, CCIE, Terraform, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure certifications.
Experience supporting large-scale live broadcast or global event technology infrastructure.

Additional Details
The base salary range for this position is $199K - $200K annually, depending on experience.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
