Job Description:
  • The Web Developer is responsible for managing SharePoint content, ensuring site consistency, and maintaining ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance across web pages and documents.
  • This role supports departments with content updates, accessibility remediation, governance standards, and continuous improvement of SharePoint environments.
  • The developer collaborates with stakeholders to enhance usability, compliance, and overall user experience.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Experience with SharePoint Online or SharePoint 2016/2019, including page editing, site structure, and content management.
  • Strong understanding of ADA requirements and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to remediate accessibility issues in web pages and documents, including PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva exports.
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing tools such as WAVE, Axe, Siteimprove, and Lighthouse.
  • Experience training or supporting non-technical content authors.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on consistency, usability, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Update, configure, and maintain SharePoint pages, web parts, navigation, and document libraries to ensure consistent layout, branding, and usability.
  • Review existing SharePoint sites for formatting inconsistencies, broken links, outdated content, and structural issues.
  • Assist departments in creating or updating pages using approved templates, metadata, and content organization standards.
  • Support content lifecycle management, including archiving, versioning, and cleanup.
  • Conduct accessibility reviews of SharePoint pages, images, forms, navigation, and interactive elements.
  • Remediate accessibility issues including alt text, color contrast, heading structure, link text, keyboard navigation, and ARIA labeling.
  • Convert or correct documents and materials to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Ensure all uploaded documents follow accessibility best practices before publication.
  • Use accessibility testing tools to validate compliance.
  • Work directly with departmental web authors to ensure adherence to ADA and SharePoint content standards.
  • Provide coaching, documentation, checklists, and quick-reference guides to improve authoring practices.
  • Assist in developing or refining content governance policies, accessibility workflows, and publishing standards.
  • Communicate issues, risks, and recommendations to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Monitor SharePoint sites for ongoing accessibility, consistency, and user experience issues.
  • Track accessibility findings, document remediation progress, and report on compliance status.
  • Recommend improvements to templates, components, and processes to reduce future accessibility issues.
  • Stay current on ADA, WCAG, and SharePoint best practices.
Should Have:
  • Experience with SharePoint governance, templates, and content workflows.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, or basic front-end accessibility techniques.
  • Experience remediating complex PDFs and multimedia content.
  • Background in public sector, environmental, or regulatory websites.
Qualification And Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field preferred.
