IT Manager - Onsite in Houston, TX

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to oversee our organization's technology infrastructure, end-user support, cybersecurity initiatives, and IT governance. This role will be responsible for maintaining reliable network and systems operations, providing technical leadership, developing IT policies and procedures, and helping drive the company's cybersecurity strategy. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology professional who can balance day-to-day operational support with long-term planning and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Network Management
  • Manage and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and internet connectivity.
  • Oversee server, cloud, storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliable operations.
  • Coordinate hardware and software deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
End-User Support
  • Lead and support IT help desk operations, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Provide escalated support for complex hardware, software, and network-related problems.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and support procedures.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls to protect company systems, networks, and data.
  • Monitor security alerts, vulnerabilities, and threats, and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Conduct security awareness training and promote best practices across the organization.
  • Manage endpoint protection, email security, MFA, patch management, and other security technologies.
  • Participate in incident response planning and cybersecurity investigations as needed.
IT Governance & Policy Development
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist with compliance, audit preparation, and risk assessments.
  • Recommend technology improvements that align with business objectives and security requirements.
  • Establish and maintain documentation related to IT governance and operational processes.
Vendor & Project Management
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions.
  • Lead or participate in IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and security initiatives.
  • Assist with IT budgeting, forecasting, and asset management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including systems administration, networking, and technical support.
  • Experience managing network infrastructure, Microsoft 365 environments, cloud technologies, and endpoint management.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and security frameworks.
  • Experience developing IT policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, switches, wireless networks, and security tools.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CISSP, CISM, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar are a plus.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on technical work.
  • Experience working in small-to-mid-sized business environments.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
