Annual Salary Range: $89,600 - $132,100
The successful candidate s placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role and internal equity. The placement shall not exceed the midpoint of the salary range, which is $110,900 annually.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position designs, installs, configures, and maintains network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity of the city's technology and communications systems. Builds, tests, implements, and supports network infrastructure and supports the creation and maintenance of network disaster recovery plans. Monitors network performance and makes recommendations for improvement.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Creates standards and technical specifications; and designs, architects, configures and documents complex solutions for voice, data, and wireless networks.
- Configures and troubleshoots network hardware and software such as routers, switches, firewalls, cameras, and card access.
- Monitors network performance and security to ensure optimal operation and protection against cyber threats.
- Collaborates with other IT professionals to integrate network systems with other technologies, such as servers, storage, and cloud services.
- Plans and executes network upgrades and expansions to accommodate business growth or technological advancements.
- Documents network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference and knowledge sharing.
- Provides guidance to Network Technicians.
- Participates in on-call rotations and responds promptly to network emergencies or outages to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
- This is a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) regulated position and requires the ability to meet and maintain compliance with the Security Policy.
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in local/wide area network, telecommunications or information security infrastructure or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Electronics, Communications, Information Systems, or related field.
The term equivalent means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor s degree).
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
- Valid driver s license
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is preferred.
