Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Engineer II to support electric utility engineering and distribution reliability projects. The engineer will analyze distribution system performance, identify reliability improvement opportunities, perform power system studies, and develop engineering solutions to improve electric service reliability.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, power system studies, circuit/feeder analysis, and utility reliability metrics such as SAIDI and CAIDI. The role also requires the ability to develop technical recommendations and effectively communicate complex electrical concepts to engineering teams, customers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate distribution circuits with high SAIDI/CAIDI performance to identify reliability issues and improvement opportunities.

  • Analyze electrical distribution systems and feeder/circuit performance.

  • Perform and interpret power system studies to support engineering recommendations and reliability projects.

  • Identify, develop, and evaluate distribution system reliability improvement projects.

  • Prepare engineering designs, specifications, standards, studies, technical reports, and cost estimates.

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical recommendations.

  • Prepare and present project proposals to the reliability engineering team and other stakeholders.

  • Provide technical solutions to engineering and operational problems within electric utility systems.

  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, planning, construction, and other internal departments.

  • Direct and assist team members and outside contractors in completing assigned engineering work.

  • Review technical information and provide recommendations based on system performance and operational requirements.

  • Communicate complex electrical and power-system concepts effectively to customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Support small engineering projects and tasks from initial scope through completion.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.

  • Experience working with electrical distribution systems.

  • Knowledge of power system studies and distribution system analysis.

  • Experience with utility reliability concepts and metrics, preferably SAIDI and CAIDI.

  • Ability to analyze distribution circuits and identify reliability improvement opportunities.

  • Experience preparing engineering designs, technical specifications, studies, and cost estimates.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to coordinate projects with internal teams and external contractors.

  • Ability to explain complex electrical engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electric utility engineering or power distribution.

  • Experience with distribution system analysis tools such as CYME, ETAP, Synergi, or similar.

  • Experience with feeder reliability, outage analysis, distribution planning, or system improvement projects.

  • Knowledge of distribution protection, automation, sectionalizing, voltage analysis, and load-flow studies.

  • Previous experience developing and presenting engineering project proposals.

Interview Process

  • Two rounds of panel interviews

  • Interview panel will include the Host Manager and Supervisor
