Data Engineer I
Overview
Seeking a Data Engineer I to join the data team supporting a high-priority initiative focused on building the foundation for enterprise knowledge management. This role will primarily focus on hands-on development of data pipelines, orchestration, and data movement from source systems into the enterprise data lake.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to ingest data and documents from various source systems into the enterprise data lake.
- Work with stakeholders to identify data from source systems and support ingestion and storage within the data lake environment.
- Build and enhance pipelines to support the ingestion of additional documents and knowledge assets as the initiative expands.
- Implement data orchestration using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to move data across systems.
- Utilize dbt to perform required data transformations.
- Support data enablement through Databricks and Unity Catalog for metadata management and governance.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining data taxonomy and folder structures that support reporting and discovery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help create a unified knowledge interface where enterprise documentation can be easily accessed and analyzed.
- Contribute to the successful completion of project milestones aligned with the organization's fiscal year goals.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data orchestration.
- Experience working with Databricks in a data engineering environment.
- Familiarity with dbt for data transformation.
- Proficiency in Python, particularly for scripting and data processing.
- Experience building or supporting ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Understanding of data lake architectures and data ingestion workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to metadata management or data cataloging tools.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data ingestion.
- Familiarity with taxonomy design or knowledge management systems.
