Role Overview
A position is available for a Systems Engineer 2 to support a Systems Engineering department. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, managing configuration baselines, and ensuring the successful transition of hardware-software systems to production. This position will serve on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the technical baseline development by capturing, analyzing, and finalizing the functional and performance requirements baseline; maintain full traceability and confirm verifiability ahead of design reviews.
- Develop functional and physical system architectures, conduct trade-off studies, and select optimal solutions that advance system maturity toward production readiness.
- Organize and lead internal design-review meetings; facilitate external sessions with customers, suppliers, and other partners, collecting feedback and driving corrective actions.
- Collaborate with integration and test teams on schedules, maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and create comprehensive test verification matrices.
- Lead verification execution, analyze test and analysis results, resolve discrepancies, and close verification loops to satisfy baseline requirements and subsequent system qualification.
- Manage baseline configuration items, enforce version control, and conduct impact analyses for changes throughout system verification and validation.
- Author and maintain critical artifacts such as System Requirements Documents, ICDs, Design Descriptions, Test Plans, and Risk Registers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with program objectives.
Required Qualifications
Clearance: Must be willing and able to maintain a Secret clearance
Experience: Demonstrated systems-engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or defense.
Technical Skills: Proficient with systems-engineering tools such as DOORS, CAMEO, MATLAB, or comparable software.
Additional Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication. Collaborative team player with meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Clearance: A DOD Secret clearance is required for this position.
- Solid understanding of inertial navigation and related products.
- Proven track record executing program milestones, including Systems Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR).
