Technical Lead java

Position Summary

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to lead the UCD Web Services and API development initiatives while working closely with Database, QA, DevOps, and Product teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java and Microservices architecture, coupled with solid database knowledge in PostgreSQL and Oracle environments.

The role involves technical leadership, solution design, delivery ownership, production support, performance optimization, stakeholder management, and team mentoring. The candidate should be capable of driving end-to-end application delivery while ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and adherence to enterprise engineering standards.

Experience Required

• 8-15+ years of hands-on software development experience
• Minimum 2+ years in a Technical Lead or Module Lead role
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale applications and production environments
• Experience leading Agile teams and driving delivery commitments
• Strong stakeholder and client management skills

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of Java/API developers.
• Drive solution architecture, design discussions, and technical reviews.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and development best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Act as the technical point of contact for critical project initiatives.

Delivery & Agile Execution

• Own sprint commitments and delivery milestones.
• Participate in backlog grooming, story estimation, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Ensure all deliverables meet Definition of Done (DoD) and acceptance criteria.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges.
• Support release planning and production readiness activities.

Production Support & Reliability

• Lead resolution of critical production incidents and perform RCA.
• Coordinate deployments, hotfixes, and release activities.
• Ensure system stability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during incident response and recovery.

Performance & Optimization

• Drive application performance tuning and scalability initiatives.
• Optimize APIs, backend services, and database interactions.
• Monitor JVM performance, memory utilization, thread management, and system health.
• Promote automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Database Collaboration

• Review and validate database design changes.
• Work closely with DB teams on schema modifications and query optimization.
• Ensure efficient API-to-database integrations.
• Support database upgrades, migrations, and remediation activities.
