Field Service Technician 5

Description

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Technician 5 to provide advanced on-site support for computer systems, hardware, and peripheral equipment. This long-term contract position is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented individual who can resolve complex technical issues, support end users with a high level of customer care, and guide less experienced technicians when needed. The role requires sound judgment, strong troubleshooting ability, and a practical understanding of hardware, software, account access, and device performance in a field service environment.

Responsibilities:
Diagnose technical issues affecting desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related equipment, then complete repairs efficiently in the field.
Perform preventive maintenance, system checks, and component replacements to keep hardware and software operating reliably.
Update, install, or remove system components and applications as needed to support business and user requirements.
Manage user access support by maintaining account details, permissions, security settings, and group assignments.
Investigate recurring product or device failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
Coordinate parts ordering and replacement activities to minimize downtime and restore equipment quickly.
Provide clear guidance and hands-on support to end users while delivering a high-quality customer service experience.
Share technical knowledge with team members and help direct work activities when leadership support is needed.
Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate products or service solutions based on operational requirements.

Requirements

10+ years of experience supporting, repairing, and maintaining computer systems, hardware, and peripheral devices.
Associate degree in information technology, computer systems, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical problems independently.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support users in a clear and detail-focused manner.
Demonstrated knowledge of hardware support, software maintenance, system upgrades, and user account administration.
Working understanding of security permissions, access controls, and system group management.
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, show initiative, and provide leadership in field service operations.
