About the RoleThe
Strategic Data Modeler plays a critical role in shaping the organization's data ecosystem by creating transparency into current-state operational processes, data flows, and data lineage. This role also translates strategic business objectives into future-state operational and data architectures. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to design data models that support enterprise onboarding, profiling, compliance, and broader operational transformation initiatives within the banking domain.
Key Responsibilities- Translate business concepts, rules, and requirements into logical and physical data models.
- Design scalable, robust, and efficient database structures aligned with business goals.
- Develop and maintain current-state and future-state data flow diagrams, process flows, and lineage documentation.
- Identify gaps in the existing data architecture and propose actionable, strategic solutions.
- Ensure consistency, quality, performance, and reliability of data structures across platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging data modeling tools, technologies, and cloud-based solutions.
- Create comprehensive documentation for data models, architectural decisions, and improvement recommendations.
- Align modeling and architectural work to organizational goals, long-term strategy, and regulatory expectations.
- Provide subject matter expertise for enterprise onboarding, profiling, and compliance-related data structures (preferred).
Required Qualifications & Skills- Data Modeling Expertise: Proven ability to build conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Database Design Proficiency: Experience designing efficient, scalable database solutions.
- Technology Adaptability: Familiarity with modern database and cloud technologies.
- Data Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of normalization, integration, metadata, lineage, and optimization principles.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align data architecture with long-term enterprise strategies.
- Gap Analysis & Solution Design: Skilled at assessing current-state data environments and defining improvement paths.
- Communication & Collaboration: Capable of working across business and technical teams with clarity and influence.
- Strong Documentation Skills: Ability to clearly document data flows, structures, and architectural decisions.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of how data supports value creation and business outcomes.
Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience in banking or financial services, especially related to:
- Enterprise customer onboarding
- Customer profiling
- Compliance and regulatory workflows
- Broader industry knowledge of financial operations, risk, and regulatory frameworks.
