Signficiance, Inc. is seeking a Senior .NET Application Engineer to support the Transportation Services Division within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is hybrid role and the location is Rockville, MD. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

The senior engineer will take ownership of a legacy ASP.NET MVC platform undergoing modernization. The system supports multiple operational domains and includes role-based access, SSO authentication, SQL Server stored procedure workflows, and reporting integrations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable maintaining business-critical systems while driving incremental improvements in architecture, security, and reliability.

Required Skills:

Core Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance a .NET Framework 4.8 ASP.NET MVC application with multiple functional modules and shared platform services
- Manage authentication and session behavior, including Forms Authentication, SSO integration, and secure cookie/session handling
- Implement and review fine-grained role-based authorization across modules and submodules
- Develop and support SQL Server stored procedures and scheduled back-office processes (alerts, nightly jobs, operational monitoring)
- Support reporting and document workflows using DevExpress components and related web handlers
- Collaborate with operations and business stakeholders to stabilize production systems and deliver enhancements in a regulated environment

Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC (classic), and .NET Framework enterprise applications
- Experience integrating or maintaining DevExpress web and reporting components in ASP.NET MVC
- Strong expertise in SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures and job scheduling
- Experience with enterprise SSO and authentication/session lifecycle design
- Hands-on experience with large-scale role and permission systems

Additional Skills
- Strong proficiency in Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience integrating with AWS services such as API Gateway, RDS, and S3
- Strong experience with logging, error handling, and performance optimization
- Experience with API versioning and backward compatibility strategies
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes

Desired Skills:

Nice-to-Have
- Experience modernizing legacy MVC applications (incremental refactoring, performance optimization, security improvements)
- Background in government, healthcare, or other regulated environments

$150,000 - $170,000 a year
