Our client is currently seeking a Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust testing, automation, and assembly processes. This role will support the design, development, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of production equipment, test systems, and electrical controls while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

Develop and maintain testing protocols, data collection systems, and best practices for manufacturing and production operations.

Provide guidance for the design, specification, and selection of test equipment and automated systems.

Support, troubleshoot, and improve controls for production equipment, test equipment, and plant electrical systems.

Develop interfaces between SQL databases and manufacturing/production systems to improve data collection and reporting.

Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, OSHA regulations, and safe work practices.

Identify, document, communicate, and help remediate safety hazards to support a zero-incident culture.

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS/MESH, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues and improve processes.

Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations, implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Assist with capital equipment selection, justification, and implementation, including development of Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs).

Lead and support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Leverage automation and advanced technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and information systems effectiveness.

Identify and eliminate waste associated with manufacturing processes and production test information flow.

Lead or co-lead projects, develop project goals, budgets, schedules, and work breakdown structures.

Drive sustainable change management initiatives within manufacturing operations utilizing structured methodologies such as ADKAR.

Support equipment validation, commissioning, process improvements, and new product introductions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

Minimum of five (5) years of controls engineering, automation engineering, or manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Prior experience supporting PLC-based automated equipment and industrial control systems.

Experience with manufacturing test equipment, electrical systems, and troubleshooting production machinery.

Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, industrial automation, and control system integration.

Experience developing and managing SQL database interfaces and production data collection systems.

Demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis, failure analysis, and implementing corrective actions.

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Experience managing projects involving capital equipment, automation upgrades, or process improvements.

Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, electrical safety requirements, and safe work practices.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Management experience is not required.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
