Job Description

We are seeking a Component Engineer - Strategic Sourcing Engineering to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in qualification and supply-risk management of electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components and a proven ability to drive multi-sourcing, manage ECN/PCN processes, and maintain BOM integrity from NPI through sustaining.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, qualify, and approve electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components for production use, including resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors, discretes, inductors, filters, timing devices, PCB/FPC, and camera, optics, display, and battery modules.

  • Execute second-sourcing and multi-sourcing activities per sourcing strategy to de-risk supply, mitigate EOL, allocation, lead-time, and PCN-driven shortages, and reduce cost.

  • Determine component criticality and define qualification paths with EE reviewers; manage New Part Requests and add qualified MPNs to AVL, PLM (Teamcenter), and CBOM.

  • Execute ECNs and track PCNs across NPI and sustaining; perform up-screening, derating, and component-level failure analysis.

  • Own advanced BOM risk reviews to identify issues early and maintain EE BOM integrity across the portfolio.

  • Partner with GSM and PCE as the technical counterpart on Category A/B parts; support CM component inquiries and shortage escalations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials, or related field.

  • 5+ years in component or hardware engineering, supplier quality, or supply-chain engineering.

  • Working knowledge of passive and active components, datasheets, and qualification and reliability methods, including up-screening, derating, and failure analysis.

  • Experience with PLM tools such as Agile or Teamcenter, AVL and BOM management, and ECN and PCN processes.

  • AI related experiences.

Preferred Skills:

  • Consumer electronics and high-volume hardware NPI experience.

  • Electrical Engineering experience.

  • Track record introducing alternate sources at scale and driving cost savings.

  • Direct experience with contract manufacturers and component suppliers across regions.

  • Proficiency using AI tools and CE expertise to create data-mining solutions and design guidelines that enable data-driven decisions for GSM and EE teams.
