API Developer (Python / FastAPI / AWS)

Location: Remote
Organization: Capital One Data Engineering

Capital One is seeking an API Developer to support the migration of Discover software into Capital One. This role focuses on building APIs from scratch using Python and FastAPI in a cloud-native AWS environment.

Responsibilities

Design and build RESTful APIs using FastAPI and Python
Develop, deploy, and support API solutions in AWS
Participate in technical discussions and explain AWS design decisions
Support application integration and migration efforts
Collaborate with Data Engineering and platform teams
Write clean, secure, and well-documented code

Required Qualifications

Experience building APIs from the ground up
Strong Python and FastAPI experience
Hands-on AWS experience with the ability to discuss architecture
Experience with RESTful APIs and API security concepts
Git-based version control experience

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Capital One experience
Experience with system or application migrations

Familiarity with CI/CD, microservices, or serverless architectures
