Palo Alto Engineer - Senior

Role Summary
A senior Palo Alto Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise security solutions leveraging Palo Alto Networks technologies. This role requires in-depth technical expertise and hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls, security policy management, VPN configurations, threat prevention, and cloud security integration within large-scale organizational environments. The position offers the opportunity to support strategic initiatives, enhance security posture, and optimize network security operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto Networks security appliances, including NGFWs, Panorama, GlobalProtect, and Prisma security platforms.
• Implement and manage security policies, NAT rules, application controls, URL filtering, and threat prevention services.
• Configure, support, and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
• Conduct firewall rule reviews, security assessments, and refine policies to maximize security effectiveness and operational efficiency.
• Support incident response activities, including root cause analysis and remediation of security incidents and outages.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, network diagrams, operational procedures, and standards.
• Provide recommendations for security improvements, platform optimization, and adherence to industry best practices.
• Integrate security solutions with enterprise automation frameworks, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms, and network service workflows.
• Collaborate with network, cloud, and security teams to support ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
• Participate in change management processes, deployment activities, and troubleshooting within production environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years supporting enterprise network security environments.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security products.
• Proven experience with Palo Alto NGFW, Panorama, GlobalProtect, Threat Prevention, and URL Filtering.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, NAT, VPN technologies, and network segmentation.
• Skilled in troubleshooting complex network and security issues in enterprise settings.
• Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or similar tools.
• Capable of developing and maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Availability to work in a remote environment with reliable internet connectivity.

Publishing Pay Range: $67.00 - $72.00 hourly

Location Requirements: This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
