Summary

Job Title: Senior BI Consultant

Location: Everett, MA 02149 (Hybrid 1 day onsite/week)

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day)


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior BI Consultant to support multiple data warehouse and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in data visualization, report development, and business intelligence solutions, primarily using Microsoft Power BI and related technologies.

This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining reporting solutions, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality analytics products that meet business needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Migrate existing SSRS reports to Power BI Report Server

  • Design and develop reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI

  • Provide expertise in data visualization and dashboard design

  • Participate in modernization and migration projects to Power BI

  • Define and follow Power BI development best practices

  • Collaborate with product owners, project managers, and technical teams to gather and implement requirements

  • Optimize and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards for performance and usability

  • Maintain and support existing BI solutions

  • Stay updated on industry trends and Microsoft Azure-based BI technologies

  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance

  • Develop monitoring systems to track usage and ensure system stability

  • Create and maintain documentation throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Analyze business requirements and provide technical solutions and development estimates

  • Build and support enterprise data models using Power BI, SSAS, AAS, and dataflows

  • Design and develop cubes, metadata, and reporting layers

  • Implement solutions for ad-hoc reporting on large datasets

  • Work with data lake and warehouse architectures


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree or at least 3+ years of relevant technical experience

  • 5+ years of experience developing complex reports, dashboards, and scorecards

  • 5+ years of advanced experience with Microsoft Power BI

  • 5+ years of strong SQL experience with efficient query writing skills

  • 2+ years of experience with other BI tools (e.g., Cognos)

  • Experience working with multiple data sources such as Oracle and SQL Server

  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts

  • Experience building SSAS tabular models

  • Experience with Power BI data transformation and modeling

  • Knowledge of SSRS and SSIS

  • Understanding of OLAP and ETL frameworks

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Azure)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Experience with dimensional modeling (fact/dimension, star schema)

  • Power BI Certification (preferred)

  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills
