Position: Senior Power BI Developer (Data Developer)

Location: 135 Santilli Highway, Everett, MA 02149

Duration: Through 6/30/26 with possibility of extension

Rate: Negotiable based on experience

The Executive Office of Education is supporting several new data warehouse initiatives and is seeking a Senior BI Consultant to assist with enterprise reporting and analytics implementations. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI and related Microsoft data technologies. The Power BI Developer will collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, project management, and agency stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions aligned to business needs.

Detailed List of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Migrate existing SSRS reports to Power BI Report Server
• Design and develop reporting solutions in Microsoft Power BI based on business requirements
• Provide expertise in data visualization and graphical report design
• Participate in upgrade and migration efforts from legacy BI platforms to Power BI
• Define, implement, and enforce Power BI development best practices
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Project Managers, Technical Leads, and data teams to drive requirements to completion
• Work directly with report users to tune, optimize, and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards
• Maintain and support existing enterprise BI solutions
• Stay current on industry standards, best practices, and upcoming product releases, with a focus on Microsoft Azure solutions
• Mentor and support other developers in effectively utilizing BI tools
• Develop and oversee monitoring systems to measure usage and ensure operational stability
• Identify opportunities for innovation within the Power BI and analytics space
• Create and maintain documentation supporting the full software development lifecycle
• Evaluate business requirements and processes to recommend solutions and provide accurate development estimates
• Assist in building enterprise data analytics models using Power BI, SSAS, AAS, and data flows
• Support the design and development of cubes and metadata using best practices
• Design and support platforms enabling ad-hoc access to large datasets
• Support reporting layers built on data lake architectures

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or at least 3+ years of related experience in a technical environment
• 5+ years of experience developing complex reports, dashboards, and scorecards
• 5+ years of advanced experience with Power BI, including multiple connection types
• 5+ years of strong SQL experience with the ability to write efficient queries
• 2+ years of experience with other BI tools (e.g., Cognos)
• Experience developing reports against Oracle and SQL Server data sources
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts
• Experience creating SSAS Tabular models
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and sense of urgency
• Hands-on experience connecting to and transforming data in Power BI
• Experience producing Power BI data models and recommending visualization best practices
• Experience with enterprise BI architecture, data marts, and data warehouses
• Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, SQL, OLAP, and ETL frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with cloud technologies (Azure preferred)
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Familiarity with fact/dimension models and star schema design
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; team-oriented mindset
• Power BI certification is a plus
